Your Images – PhotoShelter for Image Distribution, Light Boxes and Photo Archive
You may be asking yourself what is PhotoShelter and why don't we just use Dropbox, Hightail, Box or some other image transfer service. The answer is simple, because PhotoShelter is the best, and no other service comes close. It is a trusted archive and distribution platform by over 1200 top brands, including Delta, GE, Chick-fil-A, Special Olympics, The Associated Press, PBS, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Applegate, NCAA, College Football Playoff, Big XII, University of Florida, Purdue University and many others not mentioned.
As the former team photographer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I led the largest independent photo archive project, back in 2007. Upon its completion in 2008, the Buccaneers photo archive became the largest, independently owned and web searchable image distribution archive in existence. In doing so, I led a team of 25 or so interns that sorted, scanned, captioned and uploaded images to our new, online photo archive, then provided by Getty Images Media Manager. This project encompassed review of over 1,000,000 images, many of which were duplicates, and boxes upon boxes of slides stored at Raymond James Stadium. In all, the project cost over a half a million dollars to complete. However, when done, any image dating back to the team’s first year to the present could be found with a simple search of a name or a keyword. Two things prompted this archive plan, the first of which was the most painful. The Buccaneers organization lost nearly every one of their Super Bowl winning photos because their images were stored on a cheap external drive. Thousands were spent trying to recover the images, but the drive was a complete loss. There were no backups, no photo servers, and poor management of the team's identity and brand had been mishandled for 30+ years. The second reason was not as painful but one that cost me two weeks of time. San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young was originally a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. At the time, images of Steve as a Buccaneer were hard to find. ESPN was doing a story on him and needed images. After two weeks of rummaging through slides stored at the stadium and slides at the Buccaneers complex, I was able to find just a handful of images to send to ESPN. Had the archive been in place, it would have taken seconds.
I mention the previous because I understand the importance of maintaining your image and brand. When you contract Abell Architectural and Real Estate Photography of Middle Georgia (Warner Robins, Perry, Macon, Forsyth and McDonough) to capture your images, we take pride in the promotion of your own personal archive.
We begin by creating a folder just for you. If you are a realtor, we will house your New and Past Listings in folders named as such. Anything in the New Listings folder is ready for you to download and move to MLS, Realtor.com and Zillow, among any other listings sites you may use.
Your listing edits will arrive in your New Listings folder for download between 24-48 hours (generally 24) after I have had a chance to download and process the images for editing – this is done at close of business each day, so your Monday edits will be published to your folder anytime between Tuesday evening - Wednesday evening, and each day, thereafter, follows the same time frame. If you have a special rush, please let me know, and I can prioritize accordingly (a small fee could be required). If you have no rush, let me know that, as well, and I can help someone else out. I will always repay the favor.
Light Boxes are important in PhotoShelter and for each and every one of my clients – you are no exception. I encourage you to use them, they are free! Think of your light boxes as your very own best of archive. You can create multiple ones so that when you are ready for a billboard, mailer, folder, or any other marketing campaign, you have already done your hard work. Each and every shoot, pick your best images and add them to a Best Exterior, Best Twilight, Best Kitchen, Best Living Space, Best Bathroom, Best Bedrooms, etc. The Possibilities are endless, and you will always have your best imagery available for commercial licensing 24-7.
As our relationship builds and we do more and more work together, your archive and brand will continue to grow and PhotoShelter will be an integral part of that growth. With my background as an award-winning graphic designer, I am here to help in every way possible, and I can’t thank you enough for entrusting me to help build your Listing Agent brand.
